The Mathematical Box

The Mathematical Box” is an educational tool created to help learning mathematics. It inscribes into the spirit of Maria Montessori's pedagogy.

By playing with the elements of the Mathematical Box you can:

• learn about the even and odd numbers

• acquire the ability to match a set of elements with numbers

• create sets from 1 to 10

• compare sizes of the sets

• develop the ability to do arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division by single-digit and multi-digit numbers).


The Mathematical Box consists of:

- a wooden box

- 40 wooden beads in three colors

- two strings

- 55 red chips

- 70 numerical stamps

- 10 wooden blocks with numbers

- 12 wooden blocks with symbols of arithmetic operations

- 3 wooden plates covered with whiteboard paint

- three pieces of chalk
